President- Dr Liam Hughes

Everyone at NMRFC would like to extend our warmest welcome and gratitude to Dr Liam Hughes who comes on board as our new club president. A keen rugby player and all round sportsman, Dr Hughes has joined the club at an exciting time and with his enthusiasm and support, the club will reach new levels.

Although he claims to be too old for sport, Dr Hughes recently rowed across the Atlantic and, with his team, smashed the world record for the quickest crossing- Check out this news article: (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7196046.stm). He has been known to appear at training and frighten the living daylights out of innocent NMRFC members by throwing his weight around on the pitch!

Dr Hughes is a consultant interventional cardiologist and spent the 11 years since appointment to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust developing cardiac interventional treatments. He now has considerable experience in all the major interventional techniques, especially stenting for multi-vessel coronary disease and acute coronary syndrome. Good on him!

Vice President- Mr Keith Tucker

Mr Tucker is an consultant orthopaedic surgeon. He entered orthopaedics in 1973 and has been a consultant for 27 years in Norwich with a large experience of general orthopaedics. Nowadays his practice's focus is on lower limb orthopaedics, including feet, with a special expertise on disease of the hip. He is involved in UEA medical student teaching in their first year unit and has been a loyal supporter of NMRFC since it was founded. We would like to thank Mr Tucker for all his encouragement and generosity so far. Lovely man.
Vice President- Dr Simon Girling
Dr Girling is a consultant radiologist. He qualified back in 1981 and came to Norwich in 1989. His specialist interests are vascular imaging and intervention, breast disease and urological disease and management. In 2002 he became Clinical Director of the Department of Radiology at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. Dr Girling has also been a devout supporter of NMRFC since it was born. Without his benevolence, the club may well have never had the backing to be what it is today. We hope in the future Dr Girling wishes to continue the relationship we have with him, and it would be lovely to see more of him.
Vice President- Prof Roger Hall
Professor Hall is a consultant cardiologist based at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Relatively new to the club, Prof Hall has been a Vice President since the 2007-08 season. He is of course, close colleagues with our President; Dr Hughes. Prof Hall is heavily involved in teaching at the UEA, and all second year medical student have no chance of passing through their cardiology unit without encountering him. He is charismatic, an amazing teacher and knows a thing or two about that pumpy thing in your chest. We thank him for all his goodwill as he joins the club on its journy which will one day no doubt end in success as the world's most powerful and influential rugby club.
Vice President- Mr Adrian Hendrick
Adrian and wife Lisa are part of the heart and soul of NMRFC. Adrian, an IT consultant, not only supports the club, but he plays week in week out religiously. In fact if NMRFC was a religion, Adrian would be a priest. Further demonstrated with his recent successful attendance of an ELRA he will now also be able to Referee and advise us on the Law and any Experimental Law Variations.

Many of us are reliant on Adrian to provide us with transport throughout the season. He cooks when we're on tour, picks up what we leave behind (we once accidentally forgot the playing kit in Leicester!) and he is a huge supporter of the girls' squad. His company A & T Computers Ltd take pride of place on the girls playing shirts. Lisa, a superintendent radiographer at the NNUH, and son Thomas try to attend as many home fixtures as possible to watch almost all matches daddy plays in.

Ex- President- Mr Terry Jones
Terry Jones is a dental surgeon from Loddon, Norfolk. Having befriended the founding chairman of the club, Mark, Terry became heavily involved in the set up and first two season of NMRFC. It is fair to say that without exception if Terry had not dug deep in his pockets, the club would simply not exsist today. His extreme generosity and passion for Norwich Medics are the reasons why current members of the club benefit so much today. We said farwell to Terry at the 2008 Chairman's Dinner. Words cannot thank him enough for all that he's done and we're sure we havn't seen the last of him. We would also like to thank Mr Allen who, in partnership with Terry owned the dental group Jones&Allen that was proudly displayed on the men's playing shirts for the first two seasons.

Past Vice Presidents

We would like to thank and recognise:

Consultant Neurologist (retired) Dr Colin Brown and A+E Consultant Mr Mike Lambert for all their support in the past and are always welcome at the club.

THE FAMOUS FIVE
The legends that are 'the famous five' spent countless hours before the big bang occured plotting and planning to create the club. All medical students at the time, Mark Savage, Alex Wickham, Will Brown, Jamie Pruden and of course, Martin Falkingham set the club up from scratch. We hope they are all proud what it has become today.
Dr Mark Savage

Dr Alex Wickham

Dr Jamie Pruden

Mark was the first chairman of the club. His kids and medicine mean rugby is a rare luxury, but we still see him now and then!
Super intelligent and ultra unlucky. The first secretary of the club managed to break his leg while running. Alex, a flanker at heart, is now a high flying F1 doc in London!
Jamie is now a doctor in Plymouth. The ex-treasurer was amazing at balancing the books, but what was more amazing was the amount of absurd and fictional injuries he acquired.
Will Brown
Martin 'The Legend' Falkingham

Will was the club's first socials and fixtures sec. He has just returned from an intercalated year in London doing a BSc and now goes into his final year of med school. He now devotes a lot of his free time to coaching or very successful ladies team
Martin, also going into his final year of med school, was player, coach and captain of NMRFC! His tireless efforts are always appreciated (even if at times he'd disagree with that). Martin continues as a player now and as coach also, but has made way for new blood in the captaincy roles. When NMRFC get around to building their own club house, the 1stXV changing roo will no doubt be called 'The Falkingham Room'.
